“Lord Quas, Madlib and Melvin Van Peebles on some fantastic, nightmarish planet, tripping hard. As hallucinatory a hip hop experience as you can possibly hope to experience without mushrooms. For some reason, the remix was featured first, and, as a result was the version featured on The Unseen album. So peep the original version – available only on this 12.” – Fat Beats

What does the grading and promo/white label mean?

What does the grading and promo/white label mean?

From a scale of 1 (Fair) through 5 (Mint).

Sleeve/Record Cover Grade Scale:

1. Fair (May have bends, rips, smudges, etc)
2. Good (Can come with promo markings, whether its a stamp, cut, slit, barcode scratched off, etc.)
3. Excellent (May have small bends or creases, looks brand new but not sealed.)
4. Near Mint (Record is most likely sealed with minor bend, crease or promo markings.)
5. Mint (It’s in brand new sealed condition, no markings, bends, etc.)

Vinyl/Record Grade Scale:

1. Fair (Scratches, may effect play, warping, used, sometimes just used for prop – will be marked if record is not playable)
2. Good (Light scratches, may be used – will be marked if used)
3. Excellent (No scratches, new, but not sealed)
4. Near Mint (New, no scratches, may be sealed – will be marked Sealed if it is – promo markings)
5. Mint (Sealed, never used, no promo markings, no bends, etc.)

Example; Wu-Tang 12" Rating condition": 2.5 (Good +)

What does "promo" mean?

Promo means there is a marking of some sort on the item. So there may be a sticker/stamp/print that reads "promotional use only," or a mark going across the bar code, sometimes a small cut on the cardboard sleeve, etc. Its just a way to show these were used for promotional use. Such as giving to specific DJ's or radio stations.

What is a white label?

These are usually advance records sent out to big name DJ’s, radio stations, etc. to help create a buzz for a record before its official release. May have no markings on it at all. No artist name, song title, etc. Sometimes the song version is different than the final version (If so it will say it with in the items description.

Quick Note: Most vinyls come brand new some are sealed some are not. Will say SEALED if it is. Same as if its USED, it will say it.
